 Adult Horsemanship Camp Weekly Sessions focusing on Groundwork
Cost:  $160 / 4 weekly sessions

 Adult beginner riders - - feel like you're fumbling getting the horse ready to ride, not comfortable handling your horse? Parents - - Do you want to oversee, help your child, but not sure how?  Get more  practice and experience handling horses on the ground --learn what's right, and what's wrong. Develop your comfort level around horses.

  • Ground work is very important to developing true horsemanship skills and developing a relationship with your mount or any horse.  Due to time constraints, most riding lessons don't/can't focus sufficient time on establishing these skills which are paramount to becoming a well-rounded horseperson.
  • Chestnut Ridge is offering month-long once-weekly 'camp sessions' that will focus on handling, grooming & tacking practice and procedures to help you feel more  comfortable and 'natural' handling horses.
  • Each 2 hr long session will cover grooming skills, picking up and picking out feet, how to tack, adjust tack, put on blankets, haltering, catching from the field, etc. - - and know when it's right and wrong.
  • All with other adults in a comfortable atmosphere.
  • Session Dates Saturdays~~ Next Session to be determined.
  • 4-6 participants per camp session.
  • Call or email for info - - ask for Lisa, 732-786-9015 or chestnutridge@optonline.net

Clinic with Dr. Cesar Parra, International FEI Trainer & Competitor

Tuesday  ~ June 23, 2009-- CANCELED

 For the ninth consecutive year, Chestnut Ridge Equestrian Center will be hosting dressage clinics with Dr. Cesar Parra, an international level dressage trainer and competitor.

Cesar is a very motivated and enthusiastic instructor and he enjoys helping riders and their mounts reach their full potential.  He believes that every rider should ride as if their goal is international competition, even if their highest aspiration is the local show circuit or seeking perfection in their own backyard.   Riders are requested to stay for the day and auditors are always welcome.  There is much to be learned by observing Cesar's lessons.  He is very giving of his knowledge and expertise; and listening as he discusses the theory and mechanics of classical dressage and watching the improvements made on each horse/rider team is educational and enjoyable as well.  Cesar's clnics are never "dry"; auditors never find themselves getting drowsy!!

Since 1995, Cesar has been an international dressage rider.  In 1999 he won individual silver at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg Canada aboard the Holsteiner Cinbad.  In 2002, he represented Colombia with PF Robinson at the World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain.   In 2003 he placed 4th at the Pan Am Games aboard Pik L.  Cesar competed at the 2004 CDIO Aachen with Pik L and Galant du Serein and showed as individual rider for Colombia at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens with Galant.  He has been a multiple winner at National and International shows in the United States, taking highest honors at Dressage at Devon and CDI Wellington.

In1996 Cesar began regularly traveling to Europe to work with some of the sport's true luminaries including Herbert Rehbein, Hans Rueben and currently Hubertus Schmidt.  He learned the classical training system, which emphasizes the importance of building a proper foundation.  Cesar says:  "There are no shortcuts in correct training, all of our work in Europe followed the training scale: rhythm, suppleness, contact, impulsion, straightness and collection.  You cannot skip any steps".

Fees:  All participants MUST pre-register.  First Come, First Served.  Clinic fees MUST be pre-paid at time of registration.

$250.00 per rider per ride (refreshments/lunch included)

$ 25.00 per adult Auditor / $15 per junior Auditor (ages 16 & under)

Auditing Fees Include lunch as well.
